Most of you already know what influenza is, right? And you must have definitely heard the word flu. Yes, flu and influenza are the same. It is a infectious disease and is caused by influenza virus. Basically it is of five types but those which effect the humans are three called as type A, type B, type C. This virus usually spreads through coughs and sneezes. If you touch any contaminated surface and then touch your mouth or eyes, then also you can get affected by influenza.

Runny nose can bother you during influenza, sneezing, body aches and especially joint pain. Fatigue, headache, irritation in eyes. Diarrhea and abdominal pain can be seen in children.
Infection can be prevented by maintaining the personal hygiene. Not touching contaminated surfaces and then not touching your hand and mouth. People suffering from influenza are advised to get a lot of rest, drink plenty of water, avoid taking alcohol and tobacco. Paracetamol can also be taken so as to relieve fever and muscle pain. As it is a viral infection, it gets better with time but antiviral medication can be prescribed by the doctor. It is a short term infection and resolves within 5-6 days. Vaccination is also available for influenza.
